10 Die in Traffic Deaths Over Christmas Holiday
RICHMOND - Virginia State Police say more people died this year in accidents during the Christmas holiday than in 2008. Last year, 6 people were killed.

Ten people were killed in 8 crashes statewide during the 4 day period, which started on Christmas Eve. Among them were four teenagers. Two girls were killed in Prince Edward County on Christmas Eve. The day after Christmas an 18 year old male was killed, as well as a 17 year old in Newport News.

Locally, one fatality was reported in Henrico County. State police say alcohol was a factor in at least two of those accidents.

Police say they are already preparing for New Year's DUI patrols beginning on Wednesday. In 2008, during the four-day New Year's holiday period, five people were killed in traffic fatalities statewide.
