Massive Rainfall Causing Problems
Local dispatchers are continuing to get reports of accidents both on major roads and side streets even after the morning rush hour. The main reason: drivers are not taking it easy on the wet roads, but that's not the only problems we're seeing in our area.

A tree dangling over the northbound lanes of Chippenham Parkway near the Iron Bridge Road exit caused major concerns for drivers. The tree hasn't fallen or caused any injuries or backups at this time.

Trees at a Richmond apartment community on Riverside Drive fell next to a parking lot there. Several cars were badly damaged, many had smashed windows and dented roofs.

Leaves on the ground on the streets of Richmond are causing sewers to back up in areas like Battery Park, Shockoe Bottom and Midlothian Turnpike.

There are also massive power outages in the area. As of 12:30 p.m. more than 20,000 people in the state are without electricity. To see the areas most affected click here.

We're also monitoring school closings in the Metro Richmond area. For the latest information click here.
