Both were killed after a fire tore through their Henrico home last week.
Like the weather, the mood was somber tonight at the vigil held outside the Johnson Avenue home where the brothers died.
The mourners prayed, many of them cried uncontrollably, few of them could hardly speak.
Investigators say Friday night, 16 year-old Ashton Black and nine year-old Aaron Brown were home alone when the fire broke out.
Relatives say Ashton ran back into the burning home to save his little brother who had autism and could not speak.
Aston is being hailed a hero.
"He was always the person that made everybody laugh, so there's nobody here to make us laugh anymore", said Dorsel Robinson, one of Ashton's classmates.
Roger Cox, sobbing during our interview said "I didn't know the kids that well just the parents and grandparents. It's a tragic thing".
A viewing will be held tomorrow at March Funeral Home in Richmond. And on Thursday, a funeral service will be held at Little Elam Baptist Church in Charles City, Virginia.
Investigators still don't know what caused the fire.
