RICHMOND, VA. -
It's a trick or treat of a different kind.
Richmond police are looking for an armed robber who hit a toll booth worker Saturday night.
Investigators are using surveillance video and talking to other toll booth workers to catch the crook.
The robbery happened at the downtown expressway toll plaza on Halloween just after 9:30pm
"A full service toll booth would have been involved, if an employee was located in the booth but in terms of which toll booth we can't discuss that," said Richmond Metropolitan Authority spokesperson, Linda McElroy.
But McElroy tell CBS 6, toll collectors don't keep large amounts of cash in the register.
CBS 6 has learned the robber made off with an undisclosed amount of money.
McElroy says the victim was unharmed but wouldn't say if that toll collector was back at work.
She says the robbery was caught on tape but they're not releasing it because it's part of RPD'S investigation.
The RMA says other employees were working at the time but can't say whether or not they saw it.
As for other witnesses, like other drivers, McElroy says they didn't see a lot of traffic Saturday night.
"Weekends are not historically a very busy time for us besides any holiday events or other events downtown. We definitely have safety precautions in place. Safety is our number one priority for our employees as well as our customers," said McElroy.
The R-M-A could not go into details about their security measures because they don't want to put their employees or drivers at risk.
Toll booth robberies are rare for this region.
But the R-M-A tells CBS 6, a toll booth worker was robbed four years ago at another toll plaza.
