GOOCHLAND - County health officials in Goochland have been answering phone calls about Swine Flu non stop for days. Acting Public Health Supervisor Cindy Moss says "We have been very busy. People want to know about the vaccine. When we get the vaccine, we open up for appointments and people will call and usually we fill up within a few hours."

Moss says their strategy of appointment only clinics has worked very well. In the past few weeks they've doled out more than five hundred doses of the H1N1 vaccine. Generally they haven't seen the long lines and long waits many people have experienced in other counties.

Tuesday in Chesterfield, officials there had eight hundred doses of the vaccine to give out to the public. Nearly four and a half hours before the clinic began a long line began to form outside of the Chesterfield Health Department. "We knew it was going to be crowded. I just didn't expect it to be quite this many people, but we decided to give out eight hundred tickets" says Paige Cecil. Cecil is a Nursing Supervisor for Chesterfield County.

Concerned mom Mary Trotter stood in line with her seven year old twins. She says there were four hundred forty one people in front of them, but that didn't deter her. She says the death of an Amelia County elementary student really opened her eyes and raised her level of concern.

Back in Goochland, Moss tells CBS 6 they believe their appointment only clinics have served them well. She believes that gives patients a sense of relief knowing when they sign up, there will be a vaccine there waiting on them. Tuesday the Goochland Health Department vaccinated more than sixty people. No lines, no wait.

She says this week they'll host two more H1N1 clinics at two Goochland County schools. They plan to host more public clinics when they receive more shipments.
