RICHMOND, VA (WTVR) - The National Transportation Safety Board has launched a Go- Team to investigate the crash of a motorcoach near Doswell, Virginia.
An online database from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) revealed several serious violations by Sky Express Bus discovered during roadside safety inspections conducted by state law enforcement officials in the preceding 24 months.
A New York City-bound bus operated by Charlotte, NC-based Sky Express overturned in Caroline County, Virginia Tuesday morning killing four people.
According to an online report, Sky Express has been found with serious violations in the catagories of:
- Fatigued Driving (Hours of Service)
- Driver Fitness
- Controlled Substances and Alcohol
- Vehicle Maintenance
Virginia State Police cited "driver fatigue" as the cause of Tuesday's crash.
Charges are pending against the driver who survived the crash with minor injuries.
David Wong, who identified himself as the general manager of Sky Express Bus, had no comment and refered all questions to his attorney.
An attorney for Sky Express Bus said she was looking into Tuesday's crash and would release a statement.
