RICHMOND, VA. -
Richmond property owner Oliver Lawrence has been released from jail. He walked out this morning, carrying an armful of belongings.
Lawrence served 15 days of a 30 day sentence in the Richmond City Jail, apparently having his sentence cut short for good behavior. That is allowed for misdemeanor offenses.
Now, Lawrence will be forced to live under home confinement for 40 days, and is paying more than $170,000 in fines. Lawrence is being forced to serve his confinement in a 700 square foot home in the city's East end, and not his home in Ashland.
City officials tell CBS 6, this case has prompted others to keep their properties up to code. They're concerned what happened to Oliver Lawrence could happen to them.
