RICHMOND -
Drivers are spending hundreds of dollars on pothole repairs, they're on the interstates, on city streets, and some drivers say it seems like they are everywhere.
The City of Richmond pays for vehicles damaged in the city by potholes when vehicle claims are made by some drivers.
Spokesperson Sharon North, explained that there is a process for drivers to go through, if they feel the city is responsible for damage to their cars.
"Contact city attorney's office, provide information, documentation, nature of claim, and why you think city is responsible," said North.
There were a total of 68 total claims reported from January 2009 through December 31st of 2009
-20 claims deferred
-36 claims denied
-12 claims paid
The twelve claims that were paid, cost the city $ 3,346.92.
North did not tell us which funds are used to pay the claims.
Richmond driver Vincent Nardone says that potholes in the city have not damaged his car too much.
Nardone says, "I wouldn't know how to go about getting my money from the city and I don't know if I would do it anyways, it may be more hassle than worth it."
