Police Searching for Abducted Girl
NEW KENT - State Police and New Kent Sheriff's Deputies are searching for a missing 11-year-old, believed to have been abducted by her father.

Alexis Cartwright was last seen at the Cumberland Hospital in New Kent Sunday.

The New Kent County Sheriff's Office is currently involved in a Missing/Abducted Child Investigation.

On today's date at approximately 3:00 p.m. Mr. Lemuel Cartwright of Bath County, North Carolina visited his 11yr old daughter at Cumberland Hospital which is located in New Kent County, Va. Mr. Cartwright's daughter, Alexis Cartwright is currently in the custody of North Carolina Social Services and was placed at Cumberland Hospital due to certain medical needs.

She was removed from the facility by her father without the permission of North Carolina Social Services or the hospital.

Mr. Lemuel Cartwright is a white male approximately 6'7" and is likely driving a 1993 Dodge pick-up truck, blue in color, bearing North Carolina tags XYZ-8450. It is believed that the father is possibly headed back to North Carolina at this time.

Alexis Cartwright is described as a white female 11 yrs old, HGT/5'3", WGT/135 lbs., HAIR/ SANDY, EYES/BLUE. She is an insulin dependent diabetic and requires medications twice a day.

Anyone having contact with this vehicle, Lemuel Cartwright and/or the missing juvenile is asked to contact the New Kent County Sheriffs Dept at 804-966-9500 or their local law enforcement agency immediately.
