A Richmond property owner convicted of numerous code violations at his rental properties will serve home confinement in one of his boarded-up properties.
Oliver Lawrence will serve 30 days in jail - and could work with the Sheriff's Department to perform community service cleaning up other rundown properties. Lawrence will also have to serve 40 days of home confinement in a house he owns in the East End.
Last month, a judge convicted Lawrence of numerous maintenance violations at the more than 150 properties he owns. The City Attorney's office tells CBS 6 this the first time a property owner has been sentenced to jail for property related crimes in Virginia.

A Richmond judge will decide on Monday if the man some residents call the biggest slumlord in the city will have to live in one of his homes.
Lawyers for Oliver Lawrence are asking the judge if he can serve his 70-day sentence on home confinement.
The City's Attorney's office says that's fine with them, as long as Lawrence stays in one of the boarded up homes he owns in Richmond. Lawrence currently lives in Hanover.
