HENRICO -
After Henrico police arrest a man, accused of impersonating a Richmond police officer, a woman who had a recent relationship with him tell CBS 6 News about his character.
44-year-old Johnny Eugene Quick of Chesterfield was arrested on Saturday. The alleged incident happened on Chamberlayne Avenue Friday night. Henrico police Lt. Jeffrey Holmes tells CBS 6 a woman accepted a ride from Quick after he told her he was a police officer. He then says Quick, who was not wearing a uniform, drove the woman a few blocks away and allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Quick will make his first appearance in Henrico court, Monday morning. But Virginia Obrien who says she dated Quick didn't learn about the incident until she watched a CBS 6 News report Monday afternoon.
She spoke to us throught tears Monday as she is still absorbing the news about Johnny Quick.
"How many other lies did he tell me," said Obrien.
Obrien says she shared a lot of time with Johnny Quick. He was arrested and charged Friday with impersonating a police officer and rape. Police say he picked up a woman on Chamberlyne Avenue, offered her a ride and then sexually assaulted her. Obrien learned it about it from watching our report.
"My mouth gaped open and I starred at it and I said that can't be him but it was," she said.
Obrien claims Quick became part of her family. Met her friends. And her children.
"Everyone that met him said oh he's such a sweet guy, he's such a nice guy, he's a keeper," said Obrien.
She admits there were a few red flags that make sense in hindsight. She said more recently he kept a strange work schedule...that accounted for almost all of his time.
"I questioned him all the time...why do you have to work every night, why do you have to work seven days a week," she said.
But now the questions are coming from friends and family members who wonder how this could have happened...
"I don't know what to tell people. I thought I knew this man. I devoted a year of my life to him."
