WASHINGTON -
(AP) Reports of four infant suffocations have prompted the biggest crib recall in U.S history.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says more than 2.1 million drop-side cribs by Stork Craft Manufacturing are being recalled because of hardware problems as well as assembly mistakes by the crib owner.
These problems can cause the drop-side to detach, creating a dangerous space where a child can become trapped.
The CPSC says the recall involves 1.2 million cribs in the United States and almost 1 million in Canada, going back to 1993.
Nearly 150,000 of the cribs carry the Fisher-Price logo.
A repair kit is available.
For more information or to order a repair kit from the company's website go to www.storkcraft.com.
More than 5 million drop-side cribs have been recalled over the past two years.
They're connected to the deaths of a dozen young children.
The CPSC is considering new standards which would effectively ban drop-side cribs.
