RICHMOND -
The son of a Richmond daycare owner is found guilty on two charges in the death of a toddler after the child was found dead in a daycare van this past summer.
A judge convicted 23-year-old Keishawn Whitfield of involuntary manslaughter and felony child neglect. He will be sentenced on those charges in January. He faces five years in prison on each charge.
Thirteen-month-old Andrew Johnson died after being left in a Yellow Brick Road Daycare van for more than four hours back in July. The daycare has since been shut down.
Whitfield is out on bond as he awaits his sentence, and tells CBS 6 he made a horrible mistake and feels terrible for the victim's family.
Whitfield's mother, Valerot Whitlow is also charged with felony child neglect and is due back in court next week.
