Soggy Weather Forces Cancellation of Major Richmond-Area Soccer Tournament
HENRICO COUNTY - Organizers of the Jefferson Cup, a soccer tournament that welcomes over 700 teams from 35 states to Richmond, have had to make the tough decision to cancel.

The event was supposed to take place this weekend, but with soggy fields and rain in the forecast, the Strikers have made the call to cancel the event.

Over the past four years, the Jefferson Cup has attracted over 500 teams that stayed in area hotels, ate at area restaurants or shopped nearby.

The Tournament is held at 14 different complexes around the Greater Richmond Area with the main facility being Striker Park.

According to the Striker's Web site, the U16, U17 and U18 tournaments will be played today as scheduled.
