Abandoned Hotel to be Demolished
RICHMOND - An abandoned Richmond hotel will soon be torn down to make way for a residential community for disabled adults.

The old Executive Hotel on West Broad Street near Willow Lawn has sat empty for several months. Next week, demolition will begin and soon the property will be home to the Faison Compassionate Community.

Developmentally disabled adults will live alongside health care and education professionals from the Richmond area.

The Faison Centers for Excellence, which specializes in assisting the disabled, says this integrated housing component will be the first of it's kind in Virginia.

Funding for the project has not yet been secured, but once construction begins, the Compassionate Community should be open in about a year.
