Felonious Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer Class 6 Felony Breaking and Entering Unclassified Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Class 1 Misdemeanor
************************************************************ Original Report from news anchor Rob Cardwell:
A home break-in early Wednesday morning turns into a manhunt for a suspect who's lucky he is not hurt, or even dead. We're told the homeowner is a state trooper.
Aubrey Johnson heard about it from his daughter. He says, "She said there were an awful lot of police cars just a few miles up the road."
We don't know what exactly went down inside the house near the Prince George- Dinwiddie County lines, but we do know the suspect ran a 1/4 mile down the road from where it happened and hid out in the woods.
Even though it sounds like one from the dumb crook file, state police responding to the scene say every suspect on the run is considered dangerous.
Sgt. Thomas Molnar with Virginia State Police says, "We take everything seriously. Whatever info is provided about a suspect we take seriously. And based on info that is provided, that information is passed along to troopers out in the field."
Just before noon a plane guides police to the teenage suspect who is arrested without incident.
He has been identified as 19-year-old Thomas Reed Roberts of Prince George County.
People in Carson say they have a funny story about the robber who picked the wrong house to break into.
Johnson says, "It makes you question the mentality of the robber to a great degree."
