CHESTERFIELD COUNTY - Local shoppers have a new place to spend their money this holiday season.

Electronics retailer hhgregg has opened two new stores in Central Virginia. Both are open in old Circuit City locations. One of the new stores is in Short Pump, the other store is near Chesterfield Town Center.

Both stores will hold official grand openings Thursday, November 19th.

However the stores had soft openings over the weekend.

hhgregg Regional Manager Andrew Eaton said, "we were shocked frankly with the amount of customers and traffic that we had come in considering we had not had an ad yet."

In addition to opening in former Circuit City locations, hhgregg has hired several former Circuit City managers and employees to staff the new Central Virginia locations.

"Circuit City was a company that prided itself on not just having a big selection but also having very knowledgeable professional sales associates. Frankly that's a void that is truly in the industry right now. Customers have been very receptive to the business model we have which is 'both price and great advice' guaranteed," said Eaton.
