HENRICO COUNTY - The absentee rate for Henrico County schools is currently runnly just about 10%. A school spokesman says that number was closer to 4% at this same time last year.

While not all the absent students can be blamed on the H1N1 illness, school leaders admit it has a lot to do with the growing number. Amelia County school closed for the week after a student died with the illness. Amelia schools had an absentee rate around 18% before the shutdown.
