HENRICO, VA - The demand far outweighs the supply of the H-1-N-1 vaccine. And it was no different in Henrico county.

More than one thousand people waited for hours to get vaccinated at Deep Run park Wednesday.

"My middle son has asthma, so, it was more the pros outweighed the cons in this case, said Danielle Berwey

Some people ended up in the woods. Others just decided to camp out. Waiting to get to the front doors.

"I hope we can get the vaccine today," said Allan Barasch

"Actually, I was expecting more," said Arindam Bashi

Henrico health officials gave out 1,000 doses of the H1N1 vaccine. Children and pregnant women are the target for this clinic.

"We're going to ask people who are not high risk, if they'd be willing to wait give up their seat to someone who is in our high risk categories," said Henrico Health department spokesman Mike Magner

Here you get a numbered ticket, sign a consent form and head to the nurses' stations to get a shot or the nasal spray. It was a different process in neighboring Goochland county where health officials scheduled appointments only.

CBS 6 wanted to know why Henrico didn't do the same thing?

"There's just so many people that want to get vaccine and we're just trying to get it out just as quick as we can. So, rather than delay and wait to make appointments we're just going to go ahead and give it out," said Magner

So, is the county violating any patient privacy laws by having people wait outside?

"The HIPAA laws are very specific about kinds of information that are restricted and it has to do with health records and confidential information."

Another vaccination clinic will be held Thursday at the Chesterfield Health department from 1pm to 6pm.

Make sure to come early.
