RICHMOND -
A south Richmond business gets an early and unexpected visitor Thursday morning. A deer crashed right through the front window of the Southside Cares Thrift Center in the 3800 block of Jeff Davis Highway, leaving behind a trail destruction
By the time CBS 6 News arrived, the deer was long gone and the employees were left in disbelief.
The deer entered right through the front glass, ran through most of the store and left by crashing through another window.
A passerby saw what was going on and called 9-1-1.
During the rampage, the deer triggered the store alarm and the alarm company alerted the store's general manager, Aaron Stinson.
"And they said we had a deer in the store. It was a rude awakening for me, you know, but I got here and was surprised to see the window busted, and I tell you I was shocked! That's all I can say is, I was shocked to see what happened," says Stinson.
In addition to the destruction, a fair amount of blood was left in the store. Since the deer ran off, the condition of the animal is unknown.
As for the store, workers spent the morning cleaning up the mess and are working to repair the glass, but say most of the merchandise was not damaged.
