RICHMOND, VA (WTVR) - A suspect in September's deadly road rage crash on Interstate 195 did not appear in court Tuesday. Christopher Sessoms waived his right to appear before the judge.

Police said Sessoms caused a car, driven by Christopher Lee Fisher, to crash into a concrete wall on September 22nd. Fisher later died from injuries he suffered in the accident.

"I think it gives us all pause to reflect on the dangers of road rage," said Richmond prosecutor Tracy Thorne-Begland. "Losing a family member to an accident like this is bad enough, but when it's the result of someone's incredibly reckless and angry conduct on the roadways, it makes you step back and realize how it can happen to anyone."

Both Sessoms and 31-year-old Charity Dees have been charged with felony hit and run.

Earlier this month, a Richmond grand jury indicted Sessoms on a charges of reckless driving involving a death by racing and driving on a suspended license.

Sessoms is now scheduled appear in court on Wednesday. There Begland said he would fight a motion to grant Sessoms bond.

"He's a flight risk. He fled the city of Richmond. Although he was in contact with the Richmond police for some period of time, I think he was playing cat and mouse, not really willing to return to Virginia," Begland said.
