Update: Wednesday 12:40 p.m.
Officials with Richmond tell us they're investigating whether the ice falling from City Hall may be related to renovations done to the building.
An architect with SMBW Architects tells CBS 6 that they are working with the city to resolve the problem but don't have an answer to why there's a problem yet.
Meanwhile, CBS 6 is learning that ice is falling from the National Theater along with other buildings downtown.
We're working on the story right now, and will have an update today on CBS 6 News @ 5.
Original Post: You must see this video of snow falling off the rooftop of Richmond City Hall Tuesday. Our CBS 6 photographer Bob Hogensen was rolling when heavy snow came crashing down on a glass canopy. It was literally an, "In the right place at the right time," opportunity.
You might remember, this same event happened during the December 2009 snowstorm. When temperatures increased, the snow melted and fell down on the glass canopy that faces the Broad Street entrance. That area was taped off and immediately closed as a public entrance.
Bob was out with reporter Sandra Jones covering a story on the City's budget when it happened. The snow fall happened not once, but twice.
It's a must forward!
