Chesterfield education leaders say there's no way around it. Schools in the county are facing 25 to 30 million dollars worth of budget cuts next year due to the strained economy. They say the changes as a result of those lost dollars will be visible.

"You'll see more students in classrooms and fewer teachers with fewer aides to help those teachers," said Chesterfield Education Association President Frank Cardella.

Over the course of the next week, several community meetings will be held so parents can voice concerns before county leaders. The first is Monday night at 7 p.m. at Clover Hill High School on Hull Street Road.

"This is the time to come out if they wait until January or February when the budget is announced than all you can say is gee I wish it hadn't turned out that way," said Cardella.

Cardella says unfortunately students will pay the price. He says in the long term the quality of their education could suffer. But there's still time to try and minimize the damage.
