Beware of Scam Artists Posing as Census Workers
You may have seen the commercials on TV, and soon Virginians will be receiving their census questionnaires in the mail. But police are warning you to be on the lookout for scams.

They say criminals could pose as Census workers just to get your personal information.

Federal Law says that all citizens are required to complete a census form and return it. If not, a census worker will visit your home to get your information.

State Police say if someone comes to your door, ask for identification. Census workers will also never ask to enter your home or ask for credit card or bank information.

If for any reason you are concerned about their identity, call the Regional Census Office for Virginia at (704) 936-5300.
