Virginia Tech Police Comment On Threats
Virginia Tech police have issued a statement on threats directed at the school, concluding the person behind the e-mails and Internet postings is "not in a position to be a danger" to the Blacksburg campus.

The origin of the threats has been linked to Italy and they have been directed at Tech nearly three years after the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history. In April 2007, student Seung-Hui Cho (sung wee joh) killed 32 people on campus, then committed suicide.

In a posting on Tech's Web site on Friday, Maj. Gene Deisinger said investigators have taken the threats "very seriously" and have thoroughly investigated them.

Virginia State Police and the FBI are assisting in the investigation.

There have been no threatening postings or emails since Wednesday.
