RICHMOND, VA - Monday, Richmond police arrested and charged Alphonzo Richardson, 32, of Petersburg, with unlawful disposal of a body in connection to the murder of Tameka Claiborne.

Claiborne's body was found Friday on the banks of the James River in Charles City County. Claiborne had been missing since Tuesday night. Police were alerted to her disappearance after they found her son, Malik Ellison, wandering alone in a Chesterfield County apartment complex.

Claiborne's boyfriend, 28-year-old Michael Solomon is the primary suspect in Tameka Claiborne's murder. Investigators say Solomon abandoned Claiborne's son in that parking lot and he has been charged with child abduction. More charges in relation to Claiborne's murder are expected.

In addition to being charged with helping dispose of the body, Alphonzo Richardson is also facing a misdemeanor charge of accessory after the fact to murder. He was arrested over the weekend and is currently at the Richmond City Jail.

CBS 6 talked to Richardson's father about his son's arrest. Herbert Richardson says, "My son wouldn't do that. Look, I've been thinking about this and I'm so sorry the young lady is dead, I really am. But my son didn't do that. If anything my son helped save that child's life."

The elder Richardson, who says his son works with Michael Solomon at a Prince George distribution center says he's standing by his son. He believes the explanation he says Alphonzo gave his wife before his weekend arrest.

Herbert Richardson says, "Supposedly they work at the same place. They guy came by and from what my daughter-in-law says he was going to kill the little boy and so my son rode with him and picked the little boy up so he wouldn't and that's all I know. Look, the smart thing would have been for him to not get involved, but he was thinking of that child."

He goes on to say, "It's a terrible thing. I just want the truth to come out, because I feel for the family."

Police say Solomon's gold Chevy Malibu was discovered in Hopewell on Saturday and has provided valuable evidence in the case.
