RICHMOND - A fuel truck loaded with jet fuel remains overturned in a grassy median following a crash Tuesday morning.

Emergency fire crews remain on scene trying to stop the fuel leak and clean up the spill.

The main entrance to the airport, Airport Drive, has reopened to traffic, but one lane of Williamsburg Road remains closed to travelers. For hours following the crash, drivers were re-routed to Richmond International Airport's back entrance on Charles City Road off of Laburnum Avenue.

Airport officials tell CBS 6 the aviation fuel truck overturned just after 10:00 a.m. The driver was trapped inside, but was pulled from the wreckage by emergency personnel. We still do not know the condition of the driver or what caused the morning accident.

The tanker truck was full as it was heading to the General Aviation fuel depot, according to Richmond International Airport Spokesman Troy Bell, who says the truck appears to belong to Kenan Aviation.
