Deadly Interstate 95 Accident (Kevin Sherlock / June 21, 2010)

Virginia State Police say Theresa Supica was wearing her safety belt at the time of the crash. The Supica Family was traveling to Virginia Beach, Virginia to participate in tryouts in the sport of field hockey at the time of yesterdays crash. Inside the vehicle were three sisters and their mother. The 15-year-old driver was operating the vehicle with a valid learners permit. Her 14-year-old sister was seated behind her.

Virginia State Police say a Michigan mother and her daughter died in this morning's accident on Interstate 95 in Henrico County.two vehicle crash in Henrico County this Monday morning,
Police say a 2006 Toyota Corolla was traveling in the right lane, when the driver changed lanes to avoid another vehicle and lost control. The Corolla then struck a 2003 Ford Explorer which was traveling in the left lane at the time of the crash. The Explorer then lost control and overturned several times before coming to rest on its roof.
The driver of the Corolla, Se H. Yoo, 20, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported by ambulance to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond. Yoo was wearing her safety belt.
The teenage driver of the Explorer and her teenage sister, who was seated in the backseat behind the driver, suffered serious injuries in the crash and were transported to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. They were both wearing their safety belts.
The front seat passenger, Theresa Supica, 45, and the rear seat passenger, Samantha Supica, 12, died at the scene. Samantha was wearing her safety belt at the time of the crash. It remains under investigation whether Theresa was wearing her safety belt.
No charges have been filed at this time.

State Police have reopened the right two lanes of Interstate 95 following Monday morning's deadly accident.
State Police say southbound traffic remains backed up six to seven miles.
VDOT expects the far left lane to reopen closer to 5pm.
Back ups are expected to remain through Monday evening's rush hour.

A deadly accident on Interstate 95 in Henrico County has all southbound lanes closed at this time. VDOT says the highway could be shutdown for three hours.
The accident happened around 11:15am between the Atlee/Elmont Exit and the Interstate 295 split.
State police say the accident involved two vehicles, and two people were killed when they were thrown from their vehicle.
Traffic is now being detoured at Atlee/Elmont exit in Hanover County.
Traffic that already passed the Atlee/Elmont exit will be turned around on Interstate 95 and diverted onto northbound 95.
The left lane of Interstate 95 North will be closed to allow for traffic to be diverted.
