The race for Virginia Governor has is becoming a face off on television. Bob McDonnell is airing new television ads that defend his position on women in the workplace.
"We just thought the attacks being made were inappropriate so we thought we'd give the straight scoop about my record," said McDonnell.
Democratic opponent Creigh Deeds has repeatedly attacked McDonnell for a thesis he wrote in about the conservative thesis he wrote in 1989. Now with a month left in the campaign McDonnell's ads are having the women he works with speak on his behalf.
"We've got a number of talented working women who are taking to the camera and letting people know about my strong record," said McDonnell.
But some are wondering if McDonnell's rebutal is a sign that Deeds' tactics are working. Some political experts think so.
"McDonnell's response suggests that he's worried that Creigh Deeds has been effective with his attacks. The right thing to do is to respond, but these ads suggest that the race is narrowing and McDonnell is concerned," said Dr. Lauren Bell.
And with a month left in the campaign, the ones most concerned will likely be virginia voters.
