Saturday's debris collection happened along Ocean View Boulevard in the Paradise Valley neighborhood.
After Saturday, city crews will pick up bulk trash upon request, according to La Canada Flintridge officials.
City officials advised residents to put debris on the street-side of K-rail barriers set up along the road to keep mud flows out of homes.
Hazardous waste, including lawn and garden care products, fluorescent lights, paint, automotive fluids, batteries and cleaners, will be picked up at a later date by the Department of Toxic Substance Control. Officials said these materials should be separated and kept off the streets.
Last weekend, heavy downpours triggered mudslides that damaged more than 40 homes in the La CaƱada Flintridge area. Nine properties have been red-tagged as uninhabitable.
A boulder clogged the Mullally catch basin during one round of steady rain, and mud and debris was sent cascading down Ocean View Boulevard.
Volunteers are available to help Paradise Valley residents dig out of the mud, city officials said. Residents can send a message to mudslidevolunteerslcf.ca.gov or call (818) 790-8880 to request assistance.
