Where you can see Fireworks this 4th of July:
PATRIOTIC CONCERT: 27th Annual Independence Day Concert is Friday night (7/2) featuring the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. at Genworth at Broad St. and I-64, the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. followed by fireworks at approximately 8:45 p.m. Bring blankets and chairs. Parking is free, too. DOGWOOD DELL 4TH: Enjoy patriotic and popular music from the Richmond Concert Band and other featured musicians and fireworks at Richmond's Fourth of July Extravaganza. Sunday July 4th, starting at 5 p.m. at the Byrd Park Carillon area, admission is free.
FIREWORKS AT THE DIAMOND: Richmond's new baseball team, The Flying Squirrels have three nights of fireworks for the 4th. Thursday, July 1st, Saturday, July 3rd and Sunday, July 4th. Gametime is 7 p.m., fireworks will follow. If you aren't going to the game, there are plenty of great vantage points around the Diamond, which is on Boulevard.
BRANDERMILL FIREWORKS: Saturday, July 3rd Fireworks are set for the night over Sunday Park at the Swift Creek Mill Reservoir, scheduled for 9:15 p.m. They top off a day of activities that begin with a parade at 1 p.m., followed by a holiday festival.
THEME PARK FIREWORKS: Kings Dominion in Doswell has fireworks displays on Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4. They are also offering free admission to all current and retired military personnel for the holiday weekend. Busch Gardens in Williamsburg offers fireworks on Friday, July 2 through Sunday, July 4.
POWHATAN FIREWORKS: Fireworks at dusk are the highlight as the The Hugenot Fire Department hosts it's 2nd Annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 3rd. At a farm located at 2693 Rocky Oak Road just off US Route 60, join the firefighters for live music, Children's activities, food, a classic car and fire engine show and fireworks. Gates open at 5 p.m.. Admission is $15 per car load, or $10 per car load with a canned food donation for the area food bank.
CHESTERFIELD FIREWORKS: On Sunday, July 4th, enjoy food, fun, children's activities and free fireworks at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds. The Kings of Swing will be performing and there will be a kids' area. Gates open at 5 p.m., fireworks after dark.
FORT LEE FIREWORKS: Fireworks cap off the annual Fourth at the Fort Independence Day Celebration at Fort Lee on Sunday, July 4, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Williams Stadium on Lee Avenue. Gates open at 2 p.m. with music, food, arts and crafts, and live music all day long. The Fireworks show is set for around 9:35 p.m. Coolers, no larger than 6x6x12 inches, will be permitted. To access Fort Lee, please be ready to show a driver's license, current vehicle registration and proof of insurance. All adult passengers in the vehicle should be ready to show a driver's license or other form of photo identification.
COLONIAL HEIGHTS FIREWORKS: at 9:15 p.m. on Independence Day, Colonial Heights offers up a fireworks display off Charles Dimmock Parkway. Best viewing spots will be off Interstate 95, Exit 53 or 54 in the Southgate Square/Wal-Mart Area. Bring blankets and lawn chairs.
RACETRACK FIREWORKS: Horseracing, a concert and Fireworks for the 4th at Colonial Downs in New Kent starting at 5 p.m. on July 4th. Live music before and after the fireworks, magic, free ice cream, Children's activities, cartoons on the Jumbotron, and giveaways. Admission is $2.00.
