Two men are behind bars in connection with the shooting of a young woman in Caroline County.

It happened about six Wednesday evening as the woman and a male companion were walking outside the Gulf-Chevron gas station on Carmel Church Road. That's when investigators say a car with three men pulled up, words were exchanged, and shots were fired.

Deputies arrested 18-year-old Austin Morris and have charged him with aggravated malicious wounding. 20-year-old Claudell Fells has also been arrested. He is said to be Morris' cousin.

The sheriff believes the shooting may have to do with a feud between neighborhood gangs.

The victim was taken by helicopter to a VCU Medical Center in Richmond. She is believed to have non life-threatening injuries.
