NEW YORK CITY - Millions of canned Slim Fast products are subject to a national voluntary recall by Unilever over concerns the products may be contaminated with bacteria that causes nausea, diarrhea or vomiting.

Unilever, under cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration, says the recall only affects ready-to-drink Slim Fast diet drinks in cans and does not affect other products including energy bars and protein shakes. The company said the products may be contaminated with Bacilius cereus, though it's not clear how the products were contaminated with the bacteria.

A company press release announced all canned products, regardless of lot number, best-by date, UPC number or flavor, fall under the voluntary recall.

Unilever urges consumers to dispose of the canned products immediately and contact the company at 1-800-896-9479 for a full monetary refund.
