FREE BACK-TO-SCHOOL FESTIVAL: This Saturday, August 14th the Saint Paul's Baptist Church Elm Street-Petersburg location invites you to join them at their Back-2-School Blast Block Party. From 11 a.m. To 3 p.m. activities will include live music and entertainment, games and activities for all ages, health and dental screenings, free food and free school supplies for the first 100 children. FREE SHOCKOE FESTIVAL: Free admission as it's Shockoe Slip vs. Shockoe Bottom in the 3rd Annual Shockoe Chef Showdown. Head down to the 17th Street Farmer's Market to watch local chefs compete in a cookoff featuring meat-based dishes, vegetarian and dessert. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., stick around and sample the dishes.
FREE GARDEN WALK: Dogs and Dog lovers are invited to stroll the gardens of Richmond's Agecroft Hall in a special free Friday the 13th event called "Wags and Wine". From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. the evening features live music and cash bar. Reservations are required by calling 353-4241.
FREE OUTDOOR MOVIE: Enjoy a free classic movie every Thursday night in August, in the courtyard at First Baptist Church on Monument Avenue at Boulevard. Bring your lawn chair, even your pets and enjoy popcorn and drinks. This week's feature is Star Wars. FREE FRIDAY MOVIE: This week's (Aug. 13) free Richmond Parks and Rec Friday Movie in the Park is "FAME". The fun begins at 8:30 p.m. Enjoy free refreshments, too, at Chimborazo Park at 2900 East Grace STreet.
