Celebrate Veterans Day with Free Stuff

CANDY COMA DAY: Noodles & Company is encouraging children to swap some of their Halloween Candy for a real meal. This Sunday, November 8, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. , kids 12 and under can swap any amount of candy in for a FREE small bowl of noodles. There are Noodles & Company locations in Mechanicsville, West Chester and Willow Lawn.

FREE ADMISSION FOR VETERANS: Colonial Williamsburg is offering free admission to Veterans November 6-11 as part of its Veterans Day tribute. The free "Honoring Service to America" pass will also be available to active duty military, National Guard and reservists, retirees and Veteran's dependents. Colonial Williamsburg will hold a military parade and ceremony on Veteran's Day.

MORE FREE ADMISSION FOR VETERANS: In appreciation for service to the the U.S., Shirley Plantation in Charles City is offering free admission for all Vets on Veteran's Day, November 11th. Bring your U. S. military identification. The historic site is on Route Five.

PARADES AND OYSTERS: The Urbanna Oyster Festival celebrates 52 years this weekend. Friday and Saturday, November 6 & 7, the waterside community hosts parades, arts and crafts, live entertainment, and plenty of great food, including oysters. Admission is free.

FREE PET-CENTRIC FILM FESTIVAL: Enjoy a weekend of movies for pet lovers at The FETCH Canine Film Festival at the historic Byrd Theatre in Carytown (2908 Cary St., Richmond). Saturday's screenings of family fare are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Sunday from 1 p.m. To 6 p.m., the animal-themed films are more suitable for adults and children over age 13. FREE ARTS ACTIVITIES: Bank of America cardholders can enjoy free access to dozens of museums nationwide this weekend, November 7-8, including the Children's Museum of Richmond and the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk.

FREE FLU SHOTS: Jewish Family Services is offering free flu shots for low-income senior citizens in the Greater Richmond Area who are uninsured or underinsured and homebound. JFS Nurses will make home visits to give the vaccinations. Call 282-5402 for more information.

MORE FREE FLU SHOTS: If you're currently without a job or health insurance, CVS is offering free flu shots. You can call 1-888-FLU-SHOT to find out how to get the necessary voucher.
