Shelby Brown- Reporter

Shelby Brown is WTVR's Chesterfield Beat Reporter. She's a native of Williamsburg, Virginia and was thrilled to come back home in July of 2001 to join the team at the News Six Network. She holds a B.A. degree in Broadcast Journalism from James Madison University where she graduated in May of 1993.

Before joining the News Six Network, Shelby spent two years at the NBC affiliate in Mobile, Alabama as the Weekend Anchor/Reporter. Before that she was employed at WRBL in Columbus, Georgia as a Reporter/Fill-in Anchor. While there, she was also the Phenix City Bureau Chief. She began her career as a News Reporter/Fill-in Anchor at WBHF Channel 4 in Cartersville, Georgia where she was a one man band.

Before beginning her on-air career, Shelby enjoyed the opportunity to work as a Marketing Representative for Turner Broadcasting in Atlanta, Georgia. While there she conducted tours of CNN, CNN International and Headline News for the public and international guests.

Shelby is glad to finally have the chance to do what she loves to do--covering the news. The youngest girl of 13 children, she feels blessed to have the opportunity to share it with her family and friends here at home. One of her toughest and most memorable assignments was covering an execution of a convicted killer on Alabama's death row and serving as a state's witness. Shelby says the most gratifying part of her career is knowing she can do stories that will ultimately inform and help the public.

In her spare time, you can find her reading a good book, working out at the gym or speaking to youngsters about how to pursue a career in journalism. Shelby loves hearing from viewers, so feel free to email her with exciting news stories and tips at sbrown@wtvr.com
