Sam Brock- Reporter
Sam Brock is the CBS 6 Morning Reporter.
No stranger to Virginia, Sam joins the WTVR team after spending a year as the political reporter for TV3 News in Winchester, VA.
Sam is excited to be reporting from the state capital at a time when local leaders face tough decisions about the Commonwealth's future, and when Virginia politicians are assuming a more prominent role on the national scene.
Sam grew up in Westchester County, a suburb outside of New York City. He holds two degrees from Northwestern University, including a masters in broadcast journalism from the Medill School of Journalism.
While in the Windy City, Sam had the opportunity to cut his teeth reporting for a PBS affiliate, WYCC, as well as contribute business stories to various Chicago-area newspapers.
Sam didn't always know he wanted to be a journalist, but fell in love with the career after observing how clever, poignant, well-written stories and reports can impact a community.
He's an avid follower of professional sports, with the Mets, Jets, Giants and dreadful Knicks topping his list of favorite teams. Sam is working, however, on supporting the home team Redskins (with varying levels of success).
In his spare time, Sam enjoys following politics, exercising, playing tennis and squash, and watching any television show that has been graced by the genius of Larry David.
Sam is definitely a "dog person," but is still trying to figure out how he will find the time, and the space, to get his future companion- a St. Bernard or Newfoundland.
